Day 214 -Go On, Define A Reciprocal

Monday November 16th

The post race euphoria was definitely wearing off by Period 3 on Monday but I got through. With 10.2.2 I attempted to do Reciprocals as a starter and it turned into the whole lesson. Oops. Oh well, I think they get it now! 9.2.2 I had in the computer room again and that was relatively straightforward with percentages.

It is now week 10 at school and I can confess to a teeny amount of strain creeping in. First of all it is a long long term and as the weather and nights close in the kids get tired, the teachers get tired and it feels like a long slog til Christmas. For me, there is a little bit of that but not much - I do pinch myself every day to make sure this is actually happening as I seem to have more energy than ever before and enjoying life on a more even keel than ever before.

Day 169 - Hangman

Friday October 2nd

All relaxed today as no school just half a day at University with my Maths tutor. We got our GCSE papers back and I managed 92% (hooray) and 76% (boo). We raced through loads of material which was great. I now have enough starters to get through the next few months including hangman, word search, and a website called armoredpenguin.com. Odd.

Our assignment this month is to research famous Mathematicians and create a starter based on one of them. Euler will do for me as I have all that stuff from York.

Had a really good time and the time flew by. Students are back on campus now so it was very busy with Fresher's Week. That brings back memories from a long long time ago.

Day 155 - You Should Be An Accountant, Sir

Friday September 18th

I was really looking forward to my 11.2.4 lesson today as I was clear on what I wanted to achieve but knew I would have a few challenging kids in there to test me. In the end we got half the work done and then the fire alarm went off for a planned drill. Classic moment of the day and the week is when one of the boys was trying to distract me and suggested I could earn more money if I trained to be an accountant. Bless. Thought the lesson went well as far as it went.

The afternoon dragged for everyone I think. Ran starters for both lessons but didn't feel the energy so happy to pack up and head home by 4.30pm for a relaxed evening with my family.
